How Can You Perform at Your Best at Work?
Regular psychology generally focuses on people with mental illness and its effects on their lives. Positive psychology focuses on the other 80% of people. It’s the science behind helping individuals thrive and flourish in life such as helping set and achieve goals and function as people at their best.
In today’s episode, we’re going to cover creating the right physical and mental environment to do our best work.
You’re going to learn
- How can we motivate ourselves to conquer our goals
- How can we find meaning and purpose in the work we do
- How to create a creative environment where we can work at our best
How to Fall into Your Flow
Have you ever gotten lost in your work and lost track of everything else? Some athletes call it being in the zone. It’s a mental state in which we perform an activity and are fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.
Some of us fall into the zone quickly, others need the right conditions to get us there. We need to experiment to find what works for getting us into the zone and what doesn’t. Maybe we work best in isolation without any distractions or maybe music helps us focus. Regardless we need to test the variables that contribute to our flow.
Find what time of day you work best
You probably have some idea whether you’re a morning person or a night owl. Finding your Chronotype helps you determine the time of day you feel the most energized so you can schedule your best work during the hours your mental clarity and creativity peaks.
To determine this we need to keep track of what times of day we naturally feel most productive. When conducting these experiments we need to keep our meal times and sleep schedule as consistent as possible to ensure we accurately track when we are naturally more productive.
