When Your Business Becomes More Profitable than Your Day Job

How to Replace Your Job

Amy started her own business while working full time as a dental hygienist. She built her clientele everyday working until 11 pm on some nights. Eventually, she was making enough that it made more sense to leave her day job.

In this episode, Amy shares how she started and grew her business & was eventually able to double her output by hiring a replacement for herself. You’ll learn how she also took advantage of her expertise by speaking at beauty schools in order to recruit talent and get paid as a trainer.

How Amy Got Started

Instead of taking out a loan to get her business going Amy saved money she made at her day job as a dental hygienist. She would work from the morning until 6 pm doing dentistry and from 7-11 perfecting her craft and grow a business. Some of the early challenges she faced was booking clients because of her after work hours. After a year she finally had enough clients to make lashing and microblading her full-time job.

Using the Skills Learned at Your Job to Make Your Business Run Smoothly

Microblading is a procedure which isn’t easily reversed. Amy has to be 100% in tune with what the customer wants to ensure this semi-permanent procedure doesn’t end up being on the client will regret.

Amy’s first hire was the perfect hire who cared about the business and process it takes to have satisfied clients. She was basically like an extension of Amy.

What’s the Worst that Can Happen?

After spending 10 years as a dental hygienist the worst thing that could happen from starting her own business was to end up back in dental hygiene. Minus the cost of training, there was no reason to not turn her part-time business into something full-time.
